For a datapoint with trad equipment, I have shot a 54# recurve with a 410 grain CarbonWood arrow and a Magnus 2-blade broadhead at point blank range at a hog (it was in a trap) and it went in one side and out the other behind the shoulder and buried in the dirt. Trad equipment can certainly kill animals, and it does not have to be 100# pull.
Other than the further distance I can comfortably take a shot at (I keep thinking one day I'll shoot something at 50 yards, but so far everything has been a 20 or less with both bows), my compound and recurve differ in how far the arrow buries itself after it comes out the other side.
