Love that movie. I raced BMX in the 80's, never got much into freestyle.

I just sold this Saturday. 1985 Redline 600 I restored. I obviously have no use for in my condition, it sold pretty quickly.

Default For $19.99 on Amazon....

Saved up a $100 and bought a GT performer with pegs and the gyro brake system. Brakes never worked right so I stripped them off. Would wear out the right side of my back tire by using my foot to stop. We’d watch Airborne then head to dads scrap pile to build jumps. Fast forward 25 years and Santa is bringing my nephew a new bike so I build him a pretty aggressive ramp....told him to let uncle Jake show him how it’s done. Whole family in the yard watches as I sore over the handle bars land on my back with the new bike following the flight pattern in turn landing on me. Everybody laughing too hard to even check if I was dead.

Had a redline almost identical to that. Same color frame and wheels. Mine had a goose neck with rotor, laid back seat with the handle built in and pegs all the way around.

It got stolen from a buddies front yard and I ended up with a blue summit

A little younger than some of y’all but was around for this. Had training wheels still. My older brother rented Rad on a Friday eve. Saturday morning I demanded my father take off them training wheels. I was disappointed that I could not immediately replicate all the stunts in the movie.

I signed a petition years ago to get Rad put on DVD. I would get pumped up and crash jumping ramps made of 50 Gallon barrels and stacked concrete blocks.

Brings back a lot of memories seeing that movie. Never raced or anything but jumped a bunch of curbs, creeks and hills in my day.

Oh man!! Hadnt thought about that movie in years!!
Lots of good memorys.
Cowtown and heart-o- texas were my favorite tracks after chismtrail shut down back in the 80’s. Made the trip to armadillo downs several times too for state races and one national in 88 I believe

There was a note on the amazon purchase, but for $19.99 I was willing to take the chance.

NOTE: This movie has never been officially released on DVD and is in the public domain. Thus, the DVD you will receive will be burned, not pressed.

Loved that movie growing up and it caused me a ton of pain! We raced bmx for years and traveled all over the country watching that movie the whole time. Let us know how the DVD is Curt my wife has never seen it so will have to order one if it's good.

I painted this one, it was all chrome. It is lighter than the original color but closest I could find. The wheels are off of a 1990 GT (48 spoke freestyle not the wheels that would have come on a Redline). I still have the GT in pieces. I was going to finish for my wife but I am too sickly/no mobility right now to finish it.

You haven’t lived life until watching RAD. This movie taught me more about life than high school and college combined. Before RAD I thought watching the original Star Trek with Spock and Jim had given me enough wisdom to run the race. But I was wrong.

I was gonna add earlier...about 4 or 5 yrs ago, some buddies of mine some how, actually had the guy who played cru jones in the movie come out to the local trails. The guy hung out all day at their trail jam and took pictures with everyone. When i was racing and going all over the country i used to stay with brian and alan foster, the foster brothers. Was more friends w brian than allen. He used to pick me up at hunting beach airport, then i would ride w him from his house to sheep hills just down the street from his house. Both of them were in the movie also. Id give everything up to go back to those days...

Grew up racing bmx most all my life till i was around 28 yrs old. Still have my bike. My kids ride now. Was best friends w the late kyle bennett. Spent most everyday riding at armadillo, kyles back yard w him and john purse, going to outback bmx over by willow brook mall, riding the trails at olde oaks, building spots all over houston. Off road peddler is still in business off 1960. Go give rickard your business, he doesnt sell junk. Ive been to every state, every national, raced both the aba and nbl circuits, went to every grand national. Ive ate the asphalt turn in Louisville ky at the nbl grands. Way to much to type, way to many memories. Still know and talk to many racers all over the country.
Did you go to Conroe HS?

That's pretty awesome you got to race and ride with the Foster brothers. I remember them well growing up around the tracks and nationals. Was quite a bit younger and raced against Bubba Harris and a few others for several years. Remember watching Donny Robinson Randy Stumphouser and others. My cousin raced and knew Kyle Bennet and I can remember always thinking how smooth he was on the track. Grew up riding with Chase Hawk on 9th street and capital city bmx. Fun time in my life!

Small world non-BMX related. Sean moved to my high school as a freshman (New Braunfels Smithson Valley) and I was a senior. He made our varsity baseball team as a backup utility player/shortstop and was a good little ball player. Jason was in middle school at the time. TBHer DamonJ played college ball with Sean as well. I ran into Sean at a private dove field in New Braunfels about 3 years ago and caught up. Good times.

That's pretty cool. I vaguely remember them moving to that area to open a sporting goods store or something like that. I think I have some old scanned team pictures with me and Sean.

Been almost 35 years but I remember mr. LaRue complimenting my curveball when I was 11 or 12 years old. It was a big deal to me since he was an Umpire and saw a lot of pitchers

That plus $0.50 would get you a Frito pie at the concession stand.

Wow. Found an old tball pic. Sean Larue is front row, 3rd from the right. I'm back row, 1st on the right.

Curt, you may recognize a few more. Demaree Kelly, Chuck Lyons (his brother is a TBHer), Butch goins (I think it was Butch). His dad is the coach.

I raced at Cross-Up in Spring in the early 80s. Bright yellow Mongoose with yellow mags, Shimano 3-piece cranks and Bear Traps. Oh yeah, matching Haro seat with a 97 Rocks sticker on the back! Mowed a lot of yards to pay half for that bike. Even managed to win a few trophies. Brings back a lot of memories.

Crap, that is way back in the day. I think little league football is still played there.

So they left my school and went to yours. We’re practically related.Sean was a year ahead of me and Jason a year behind when they moved away. Both were good athletes and good kids. Jason had a good, long career with the Reds, but I lost track of Sean when he moved off. Ironically, there were two boys from Porter on that Reds team together for quite a while, Larue and Dunn.

Curt, you may recognize a few more. Demaree Kelly, Chuck Lyons (his brother is a TBHer), Butch goins (I think it was Butch). His dad is the coach.

Pretty sure it would have been Bubba Goins, he was your age. Butch may have been the dad. I know Chuck...that white boy could run like a **** deer in high school.

Y’all were playing at Oakley back then. I started tball in 1978 at Lydia Ferris. Strange that such a small area had two ballparks that were always packed. This whole area revolved around LL baseball during the spring and summer back then.
