We got a couple of those cream/yellow pups in our last litter. We kept the female. They were white as snow when they were born and gradually turned more red/yellow.

She's a really neat pup.

Taz is now 8 months old and exceeding my expectations. I am extremely proud of her. Her tracking ability's are outstanding on moc trails. On top of that she's just plane pretty. I can't wait for bow season so I can put her on a real blood trail.

Cool looking dog, a little hot for mock trails right now but I bet she'll be ready for deer season..

Mine is ready to go. Going to try and get him a track this weekend on a hog. I've held off putting him on a hog so far but I need some tune up before October. This will be his first year as he is only around 11 months old.

That's pretty cool. Shows how versatile a Lacy is. Taz and I have been working on retrieving to. Haven't had a chance to try out her skills yet though. Hopefully next weekend. She is by far the smartest and easiest to teach of any dog I have ever had and I have had some good Labs. She is my first Lacy and I am impressed.

Nice J! Put Delta on about a 300 yard mock trail yesterday morning aged 3 hours and she knocked it out no problem. Ready for season as well and hopefully another great tracking season. Good luck this year and keep us updated.

I love it. He is game for anything! He is absolutely awesome when it comes to tracking wounded game. He loves playing fetch in his free time and he does really well when I tell him to leave it so I figured why not try it. I take him out to the dove field and have him sit next to me which he does with some stern convincing. When I come up to shoot his eyes go straight to the sky and he watches them fall and the chase is on. He brings them back and I say leave it and he does. (Unless the bird is still alive and he feels that he needs to kill it) I guess those teeth sink in and that taste takes over. Then he feels that he needs to eat it. That's when I have to step in and take it away. But what more can I ask for from my best friend and blood tracker.

I freeze water bottles of blood during the season and also save a few legs and patches of hide. Thaw both out and poke a small hole in the lid of the bottle and start walking and dripping or leaking the blood out. I always go to a spot with feeder without the dog lay a trail put some twist and turns in it and when i feel like it's far enough I leave the hide and leg. My last trail I took the trail through the brush the first few hundred yards and ended it across a clearing a couple hundred yards away so I could see him when he got to the end. After its laid about 30 min. I do exactly what we do during season. head to the kenel pick him up drive it like its new. Put collar on, head to first blood and let him go. Say the same thing every time we track, and walk with him the first 30 or 40 yards with gun. Like to do a mock a little before season to brush up on what will be happening next month.

^ pure blood. have bottle ready when gutting deer. I have my best luck hanging a deer if I want trailing blood. Start cleaning and when you hit the sternum or ribs cage, catch the blood then. Then stick hand in and help the blood out into bottle. The body temp helps keep it flowing

Nver used beef blood but I dont see why it would be any different on the mixing.

Laid out a mock trail about 350 yards or so going to let it age for a few hours and go cut her loose. I like to let my mock trails age for at least two hours unless its a new pup thats just getting started.I have let them sit up to 8 hours before turning her out on them...sure does make her work alot harder an really use her nose.

Here's our girl Shiloh. She will be 9 this spring. I have had her since 7 weeks old. Black mouth cur out of Mississippi. She came from a deer running operation. They put walker in them back a while ago for the nose. She was the only white one of the litter. She's one of the best I've been around. She works slower than Lacy's and marks well. We have a lot of good lacy's, she's just my favorite. She just fights other dogs is her only downfall. But she finds deer.

Good lookin dog Slinger! I have heard a ton of great things about BMC and their drive tracking abilities ect. Good luck this season.

Delta did great on her trail this morning. Had some pigs going crazy about 100 yards off and she ignored them and off she went down her trail. Aged almost 3 hours and close to 350 yards long. Going to try and get her a pig this weekend for another warm up.

Taz gets real excited as well when the tracking collar and bell come out. So excited its difficult to get it on her. She for sure knows what it means.

I personally think you should use deer blood but it's not always available so cow or pig blood is always available at the slaughter hose. I have asked the same question to those with lot's of tracking experience and they say the same. So in short use what you can get your hands on. Some blood is better than no blood.

I have a 6 month old Black and Tan. We have been working in the yard a couple times a week with no blood, just meat thrown in the grass. I took several sessions before she learned the game, and is doing good with it.

As I moved on to blood, I poured her first trail a while back, and when she found the first of the trail, she just kept eating the grass and trying to dig it up and eat it instead of following it. I did not force her to get off of it, and have done this a few times now with the same result.

Have I wrecked this dog, and what steps should I take to get her back on track?

Belle got her first track of the season last nite. Son shot a bobcat with his bow. Probably a 60-70 yrd track. Cat went through a nasty cactus patch, she was like no way went around picked up trail on the back side and found the cat. She loves to ride on the hood of the jeep when we are out and about.

Got a quick question for yall and if you dont mind send a quick one up for my pup. Know theres alot more important things going on these days but my dog means alot to me.

Went to help a buddy out this moring with a doe he couldnt find. Cut Delta loose and she worked the area for a few minutes and took a line. Watched her on the GPS and she went about 300 yards so I started towards her
Got to where she was and was a thick group of trees out in and field.she went in and the doe came out the far side still alive and Delta was after her. Heard a yelp from her as she was running through the field but didnt think much about it. Doe was pretty weak and Delta caught her and pulled her down before we could get there. Go running up there and Delta is off the side and not tearing into the deer like she usually is. Get up to her and see blood coming out of her eye...a good amount. Grab her up and get her to the vet. They knocked her out and looked and said it looked like a thorn had punctured her eye. The color part was nothing but blood. Said about a 70% chance of saving her eye. Has anybody dealt with something like this before and what was the outcome? Sorry for the long story but pretty worried about my pup right now. Hoping her eye can be saved but looks like we will be out for awhile. Dont think I can bring myself to hunt for awhile without her. Thanks for any info.

Thanks I appreciate it. Vet said they are worried about infection and inflammation. Something about all the blood in her eye putting pressure on her retina.

How's deltas doing blood trailer 28?

Dimmit got a good short track today, 25-06 back and low. Gave her plenty of time to bed up and expire. Couldn't t her looking with guest no blood surprisingly and everything was soaking wet with yesterday's rain. She made it about 75 yards in some tall stuff. Also got a bow shot boar that made made it about 100 yards in some darn thick brush. Good blood trail on him.

Congrats on the tracks! Dimmit def knows what his job is.

Still not sure how its going to turn out. Her eyes looks better today...yesterday it was completely full of blood and you can actually see a little color in it today. We have her on a ton of meds to fight infection and bring the swelling of her eye down. We have a vet appointment tom so should know more then. Shes a tough little thing still wanting to play and run around so trying to keep her calm has been a chore! Thanks for the concern its def appreciated.

I found her last night, it was a good double lung full pass through but there was not much blood. She zigged when I thought she zagged, but she only went about 75 yds. Thanks for the help anyways.
