Makes perfect sense to me. When I am hunting a big deer that I have watched grow for 6+ years, invested countless hours and thousands of dollars on, the last thing I am worried about is damaging a little bit of shoulder meat.

In that case, I think you’d be undergunned with a 300.

        Come on deer season

And 180 accubonds in the 300 Win mag for me too but I have also had good success with the Barnes TTSX. The 338 Lapua likes 250 grain accubonds or 300 grain Bergers. I like to kill em real dead real fast.

Not if you shoot through the lunges.

Lunges are terrible enough! I would hate to be shot through them.

I was shooting the Remington Core Lokt, but at shorter range shots wasn't getting bullet expansion. Tiny exit wounds. They did their job, but not enough blood trail if they ran a little bit. I am now shooting Barnes 165gr. I like them so far.

Is there a such thing as too big? I almost bought a 300 Ultra Mag the other day, but could not figure out what I would shoot with it here in Texas.

May as well go with a 378 weatherby!!

There's an idea. It was a 300 Ultra Mag Remington 700 SPS with a muzzle brake and Nikon FX1000 scope. Sweet looking gun, Not very practical. Never shot a 378. Would be fun as well.

Look at black hills gold they have a variety to choose from.
