Mike I’ve got 30-40#s. I’ll bring whatever you feel we need. I know in years past, we’ve had leftover fish.

How about 15-20 lbs Philip? I think more than 20 lbs would put us over the top with what everybody else is bringing for this year.

And sense we have only two cajun fryers committed this year thus far, one being a two basket, and the other a 3, that amount of fish may bottle neck us in the pit area. Still got hushpuppies, taters, and other foods (gator on some Texas Toothpicks coming in also).

Anybody got a cajun fryer they wanna help out with?

Mike
I am bringing my big 3 burner propane stove and a couple of fry pots. If someone has an extra fry pot and basket I can have 3 going all at the same time.

Jerry, that sounds great! We'll need a separate burner for the hushpuppies as they cook at 275, much lower than the fish (350-375). If ya try to cook them higher, they will burn on the outside and not be done in the inside.

I was just thinking about the same thing Matt. I'll see if I can get a list of needed items together tonight. More oil will probably be one of them.

I’ve started using soybean oil from Costco in my Cajun Fryer.
Since the cornmeal doesn’t burn, it lasts just as long if you keep it under 400 degrees and it’s way cheaper.

Only things I see the team needing at this point are:

Peanut oil, Or soybean oil

Some cans of Sterno,

and at least a 6-pack of really cheap beer for battering the fish. However, good quality beer won't be turned down!

If there are any other things someone can think of, just post them up.

We posted at the same time Clint. But your trigger finger was a split second faster than mine.

Good to know! Soybean oil will certainly be something to be remembered. Maybe we can try some this go on some of the small fryers, as I might already be vested in peanut oil.

Are you wanting beer for the fish batterer or to go in the fish batter?

We don't use beer to batter fish so give me a clue what kind works and I will pick up a 6pk
How many sterno cans do you need?
Do they sell those at WalMart or ?

Don't mind picking up a few of those either

I'll be giving the fish a beer bath before they get dirty in cornmeal. I don't think they are to particular about what they swim in as long as they get wet.

We need about 6-8 cans of Sterno. And Wally World should have some. I've also found it in grocery stores.

Sorry guys but I will not be able to bring my fryer Saturday. My son's high school decided they need to have a baseball tournament that weekend. If the fryer is still needed and someone is coming thru the Spring area y'all are more than welcome to it and the bottle of propane with it.

Gathering up the goods today so all I have to do is load them Friday evening after work. I'll be driving down early Saturday morning, after I feed Miss Pickles and let her out. Looking forward to drowning some fillets with friends!
