    Daily Bible Portion - 3 of 7
    "WHEN HE SENT"

    (Weekly Reading>>Exodus 13:17-17:16, Judges 5:1-31, John 6:25-35, Revelation 15:1-4)

After the instructions to turn back and stand firm, the next step was to move forward. This was crucial for their survival. With no ability to save themselves against Pharaoh’s army, and confronted with a Red Sea watery grave, Yahweh told the Israelites to move forward into the sea. By faith, Moses raised his staff and miraculously the sea separated mounting up into walls on either side. Dry ground revealed the way Yahweh had prepared for them to walk. The Israelites had little or no faith in themselves, but now before them was Yahweh’s Faithfulness being revealed, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side so neither party went near the other all night long. An east wind blew through the night, drying the land before them. The path was made ready and the Israelites crossed over in safety. By faith in Yahweh’s love and care for them, they walked between the two powerful walls of water.

Isaiah 48:17 “This is what Yahweh says - your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am Yahweh your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.’”

Jeremiah 31:9 “They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble; for I am a Father to Israel…”

John 14:6 Yeshua answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

As mentioned earlier, the day after Passover was the start of the seven-day Feast of Unleavened Bread (15th day of the first month). The first and last days of this week long feast are to be set-apart Holy Sabbaths (no-work days). It was on this seventh or last day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread that the waters parted for the Israelites. This seven-day consecration time concluded in what can be seen as a giant baptism(mikvah) for the Children of Israel. Passing through the waters of cleansing effectively brought seemingly dying peoples the opportunity for a change of status, essentially washing away the uncleanness of Egypt (the world). They were set-apart to Yahweh, no longer pursued, threatened or tortured by the presence of the enemy. They now walked with the Holy One of Israel who is Faithful and True (Leviticus 23).

1 Corinthians 10:1-6 For I want you to know, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were baptized into[by] Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.

This is where our walk begins. It is the same process for believers today. What the Israelites experienced is likened to what we experience when we respond to Yeshua’s calling. John’s baptism/mikvah was of repentance for the sin of dishonor and to restore and redeem that which was lost. John, a priest (a servant of the King), came out to meet with the people where they were scattered/exiled - in the wilderness. Today, Yeshua the King comes Himself to find the lost sheep who are scattered/exiled in the wilderness among the nations. He comes to restore, redeem and to make right the dishonor we had committed against Him. Yeshua is purifying His Bride. As we come to Yeshua we approach in our uncleanness. The Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread is for the Bride’s consecration (walk out) and status change (mikvah) to enter into a faithful Covenantal relationship with the One who reached out to save her.

Keeping the Feasts of Yahweh will bring deliverance into our lives. Many people are coming to understand the importance of Yahweh’s season of Passover. Yeshua has fulfilled the four Spring Feasts: Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits and Pentecost. There are still the Fall Feasts yet to be fulfilled by Yeshua: the Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah (the arrival of the King for His Bride), the Day of Atonement/Yom Kippur (the Wedding Day) and the Feast of Tabernacles/Feast of Booths/Feast of Ingathering/Sukkot (the Wedding reception) followed by the eight day Sabbath (new beginnings/life in His Chambers). The Fall Feasts will be fulfilled at Yeshua's return. Each Feast acts in unison and in concert with the King’s Heavenly Kingdom. They are like an detailed road map that prepares the Bride (believers) to meet her Bridegroom. As we wait for His arrival, we are called to remain awake preparing our lamps by rehearsing all of His Feast Days each year. His Feast Days are appointents and act as a wedding rehearsal for His Bride. We do not know the exact day or hour of our Bridegroom’s return. The first of the Fall Feasts is Trumpets announcing His return. Of the seven appointed times Trumpets occurs on the first day of the month which is during the new moon. During the new moon there is darkness up to a few days therefore while we certainly know the "season" no man knows the exact day or the hour of His return!

1 Thessalonians 5:1-5 Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.

    The Song of Moses

Only when the Israelites had passed through the waters and were safely on the other side did Yahweh lift His cloud of protection. Even though the Egyptians pursued the Israelites through the night, they could not see past the cloud. By morning the Red Sea returned to its normal place entombing the Egyptians into their watery graves. When the Israelites saw Yahweh’s great power displayed in the destruction of this mighty Egyptian army, they revered and put their trust in Him and broke out into the Song of Moses.

Even though Yahweh’s principles were not formally written down until Mount Sinai, the Children of Israel always had them. The principles are contained in His Gospel. His Gospel is called His Presence. His Presence was always with them. This is the same Gospel that was with Adam in the Garden and with Abraham as he journeyed throughout the land (Galatians 3:8). We will see in the next studies that when the Israelites arrive at Mount Sinai, His Gospel will be given to them formally as a betrothal Covenant, the Marriage Covenant, called a ketubah in Hebrew. This is the Song of Moses.

At the Red Sea, the Israelites were able to see Yahweh’s Word in action. Moses never wavered but put his life in these principles and stood firm. Yahweh’s principles are good news to those who love and obey them, as obedience brings Yahweh’s blessings. When Israel saw the great miracle of deliverance, they trusted and put their faith in Yahweh and that was worth singing about. The Song of Moses is the Gospel (song) of life! That is why every Hebrew child is taught to sing the Gospel, the Song of Moses, at a very early age as it will always guide, protect, and direct their path to follow after the Presence Yahweh/Yeshua.
