    Firepit for my big bro

Picked up a couple of propane end caps off of CL earlier this summer hoping to turn them into two firepits. One for my back yard and one for a combo birthday/Christmas present for my big bro. Just finished up his this last weekend. All-in-all I think it turned out pretty good considering I used mostly scrap I had laying around. Wall thickness on the bowl is 5/16" and the base is a 24" OD, 1" wall pipe section I had. Its north of 300lbs...sucker is heavy!

Yep. 1" wall thickness . I (used to) work in NDE and our bone yard would get culled every few years...what we didn't take home would get sold off as scrap. That pipe section was one piece I salvaged

No b/c I used really heavy pipe as the base I didn't want him to have to heft 300 lbs just to clean out from under it. If I had done legs I would've gone that route. I'm going to lay another piece of expanded metal in the bottom he can use to set logs on and get air flow.

yeah it was a welded pipe sample that was sectioned and we NDE'd and the customer abandoned in place. We do a lot of those.
