Stainless barrel cleaning.

Got a gun that has a stainless barrel and haven't got it out of closet in years. Has black streaks on barrel and looks like small rust spots. What should I clean it with? Gun was my dads, I should have my butt kicked for this!

Stainless steel is not rust proof. Just stain (rust) less steel.

First just use gun oil and rub hard with cloth.

For remaining marks use very fine, #0000 steel wool and oil. Go easy and slow!

Scotch Brite pad won't be as bad about leaving shiny spots on your barrel like steel wool will.
