I'm about to give up on lake Waco. Haven't even caught a single crappie the last 3 trips. Apparently I'm broken.

Isn't there some bois d arcs out in that lake in 15/25'? If there is there's crappie in em right now. Prolly 8-10' down early and move down as the day goes on. Drop it down a ways if you don't get bit pull another 2 foot of line off and try that till you get bit then duplicate that depth till you quit getting bit.

Lake Fork won today! Couple hours of taking waves over the bow we threw in the white flag! Headed to Carrolton Tuesday evening to speak at the Crappie anglers of Texas meeting at 7pm at the Carrolton library. If anybody around there is interested in talking slabs and learning about fishing come on! Meetings are free and guests are welcome. Come see us!!!

Went to a crappie seminar in Benbrook a couple of weeks ago and they had a raffle for a guided crappie trip. I won. Guides name is Tommy Ezell. I see he fishes Lake Lavon quite a bit and Tawakoni sometimes. Guess I'll know here in a week or so.

Not sure when the trip is, Tommy is currently vacationing in Mexico.

Wrapped up the last regular tourney of the year on LOP Sat! Water was up and made for some tough fishing. Managed 2nd place with 11.46 pounds. State championship on Palestine mid Oct! Gonna be fun to be able to fish that lake for a while.

Nice haul,

if y'all don't mind I am going to try and catch more crappie but I don't have a single clue on what type of lures to use, tactics or what kind of water to look for?

It's more than I could type on this forum! Depends on the lake. Time of year and conditions. Last weekend at Pines we fished standing timber. Yesterday was brushpiles on Palestine. Right now they seem to want the jig moving. Pitching it out past the tree or pile and letting it swing back to the structure. Been fishing chart/white on sunny days. And purple and chart on cloudy days. Hope that helps!

You should get them to take you to Lake Erie for walley, cats, sandies, and yeller perch. They got crappie in that lake too. But it's a whole lot different fishing than down here. Spring spawn is the best time to get crappie. I had a boss who had a place and a boat on Sandusky Bay. It was all about fishing. Went there several timea.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kilt. Gotta go!

I'd like to get into a mess of walleye or yellow perch for sure! She's from Cleveland but I don't think they fish too much up there. They've bought more licenses in Tx than they have Ohio!!

Yellow perch are pretty easy to catch in the warmer months. He had a 21 foot inboard. And we'd fish in 3 to 5' anchored. And catch 300 in a few hours on crappie rigs splitting eerie shiners in half. He had an electronic scaler on the back of the cabin. And butterfly with the belly skin on. You should of seen how fast his 14 yao son could fillet the lil fish. That was back in '78-81. Lots of people would line the side of the road/bridge going over Sandusky Bay evry weekend when the weather was nice, for the little yeller perch.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kilt. Gotta go!
