On the last day to submit application, any reason to put in for the deer lottery? Or is there a limited number of even lottery applications given??

Well got a general permit so at a minimum ill be able to get some dove and turkey. And did get a Deer lottery # so crossing fingers it works out.

Thanks for the advice. Should be a fun year and love the fact that i can drive 10 mins and shoot some birds!!

I have a general that I'll use to scout for this deer season or whenever I get chosen.. plus maybe finding a hog or two.

I went in on Friday and submitted at app for the deer lottery, went ahead and got a tag for general as well.

Not sure I'll even hunt it this year but it's nice to have the option.

How strange.....I did not see a single hunter where I was hunting last year. I thought I was the only hunter in the woods.

Looking forward to keeping up with this thread, as I've done the past few years as a nonmember. I have yet to be drawn for Grapevine, but have my fingers crossed for this year. Don't even know why I keep trying.. all I've heard is there aren't any deer out there anyways.

My son has a youth tag this yr. I'd like to try to get him on a deer. I've never stepped foot on gv due to not being drawn. For the next few days or weeks I guess I'm gona be putting in some ground work for him. He's 6. If someone can will u pm me places to park and not get a ticket or get towed. I can walk. I'd appreciate it.

I've never hunted Grapevine (didn't know you could to be honest) but I have seen some monsters early in the AM right around 2499 headed to work before. Some of y'all get touchy, you'd think it was your land or something!

yes, some people get very touchy on here about Grapevine.
Around 2499 is a no deer hunting area, that's where they all go, therefore "there are no deer on Grapevine"

I've seen dead deer on the side of 2499 recently but none on the hoof.
