    2010 Tundra Rumble Strip problem

Anyone else had this issue? Bumpy feeling like hitting rumble strips on a slow acceleration around 25 - 45 mph. Read a lot about it on tundra solutions forum but not sure what fixes it. Some say torque converter, some say transmission, some say drive shaft, etc. I’m looking for the real fix.

My son has an 2008 that does it. First I have heard of others having same problem. Following.

My 08 did the same thing and the same mph. It almost seemed like the breaks kicked in. Drive me crazy so I traded it in for a 2010 and haven’t had the same issue. I never figured it out..

Heh well I can sure tell you about my fun trip to the transmission specialist. During the summer every so often around 45-55mph when the truck was shifting gears I’d feel a slight vibration. After speaking to the dealership and a couple of tranny specialist it turned out to indeed be the torque converter. Problem was, the fluid in the TC started to break down and caused metal parts to run together between gears being shifted. That metal sheared off tiny pieces of metal and they were found in the fluid in my transmission. Even though the transmission was still good, there was no way to get all of the tiny pieces out without having a complete tranny overhaul. So, after being super upset at Toyota about it since the dealerships were the ones to tell me I never needed a transmission flush, I paid the $3400 to get the TC and tranny replaced. I now have a lifetime warranty on both as long as I get a yearly flush from the shop. She runs like a top again now but it sucked having the work done. Good luck.

Apparently it’s rather common. I have always been a Toyota fan but I have to say, in may I had the mass airflow system replaced at the cost of $2500. Then in October I had the tranny and torque converter replaced at $3400. I can’t say I’m all that happy since I’ve only got 100,000 miles on the darn thing. I don’t know that my next truck will be a tundra because at this point I can’t say they’re all that reliable. But this one is paid for so I’m keeping it till the wheels fall off.

I think there was a recall on this. Contact a dealer.

Air injection pumps. Had mine replaced about a year and a half ago. No charge.

We had same problem on our Honda odyssey and it was torque converter shudder. Changed fluid with complete flush and has been fine. 220k miles

Yes there was a recall for all years but my 2011. Dealer wanted a kidney for the air injection system and the regular mechanic said $2500. I chose the mechanic and he performed the replacement flawlessly. Then Toyota added my year to the recall but since it was not done at the dealer they will not repay me a dime. And my tranny shop tried the flush, the shudder was still there so we just replaced the whole **** thing. Hopefully a flush works for the OP. I still love my tundra but no way will I call them all “way more reliable than American” ever again. They’re all the same to me I suppose.
