I always tug on the bow a few times with both right and left hands just to warm up. Muscle strain is a reality if you don't practice good warm ups. When I was younger, it wasn't as important, but with age, tendons and muscles don't have the same elasticity. When shooting a practice session in my yard, I shoot a few arrows with my lighter bows, before moving up to the big ones. I notice the difference afterward if I'm in a rush and don't do the routine.
