    First kill

Out of all my children, my 16 year old Austin never showed any interest at all in hunting and who am I to force it on him. You don’t like it? Cool, do what makes you happy and makes you, you!!

This past offseason, out of the blue, his interest in it grew to the point that he wanted and talked about very little else.
I asked him if he was sure that this is what Austin wanted and not just “let’s do it so I will be more like his brothers and sisters. He said no, I want you to teach me how to hunt.

I purchased a Remington 700 .270 from Carey Birdwell here on the green screen and gave it to him for his 16th birthday in April.
We practiced with it, learned gun safety, sighted it in..... he was ready...we hoped

Came up to the lease yesterday in hopes of finding him a fat mature doe to take. After a dozen young doe and several young up and coming bucks showed, finally a mature fat doe came in to the feeder about 110 yards out. He took his time
(my God, he took his time)... then boom!!! Right on the stop button. I mean a real bang-flop!
    1st deer down
CONGRATS SON!!! I am very proud of you!!!
