Default Boat Ramp/Marina Closures

As the title says...

I talked with the lady at April Plaza Marina on Lake Conroe this morning. They're currently open with no issues. What they do in the coming days & weeks is dependent on what Montgomery County decides to do.

Outdoor activities are encouraged. Lakes will be open- Marina is up to them. Free business - I guess public boatramps could close but don't see how a private ramp would fall into a meeting place and not an outdoor activity.

Thats the problem here. All of our ramps are ran by TPWD, half of them are closed due to flooding, all of them that are open are in Denton County and Denton Co issued stay at home today. I'm afraid TPWD employees will be considered non essential and will close the gates to the ramps.

I guess the bigger question is, what's the deal with being in a "shelter in place" county and pulling a boat? I've seen this brought up on other threads, but is there any legal binding or fines/tickets associated with being on the road for a non-essential task (technically speaking)? I would think someone heading to the water would be pretty low on the current priority list. But then again, a lot of what people do doesn't make sense to me to begin with, so there's that...

No kidding, who’s to say that you don’t feed your family with fishing or hunting. If you get pulled over just tell them it’s essential that your family eats healthy and it’s a lot safer than standing in a crowded line at the grocery store.

Thinking pretty hard about sheltering in place at Toledo Bend this weekend. Neighborhood has a private boat ramp, and I'm sure the spawn is happening. I'd imagine the purpose in closing the larger public boat ramps will be to eliminate the larger tournaments.

Just to clarify, the public boat ramps, restrooms and cleaning tables are closed. The entire harbor is not closed. The bait camp is still open and selling fuel and bait. Also last I heard the Waterfront is doing take out meals.

Our neighborhood closed our ramp yesterday...ya know, because its a place where large groups gather in close quarters all 3 of us who are already together at the house and want to hop in the pickup truck and drop the boat in the water and fish in the sunlight and wind...its lunacy at its finest

Twin Dikes boat ramp, on Rayburn, will be closed as soon as the last camper leaves. There’s only 3 in the park as of this date & time. Mill Creek boat ramp will be open due access and not having to enter the park area. Any that do close, I’m hearing will be until June 1...Tentatively...

Up to a $1,000 fine and/or 180 days in jail per Tarrant county rules, unless traveling through the county.

From what Harris County sheriff’s department told me, there are no travel restrictions. I stated to them that I was traveling to lake Somerville from cypress and will be pulling a camper and boat and they responded with there are no travel restrictions and to use good judgment.

I guess for now I will plan to keep the trip as scheduled unless the private park we’re using shuts down.

We may go for crappie in the next couple of days. Boat already in the water. This lake is only crowded on a holiday weekend, almost nobody on the water when it is high and ramps are closed. During the week it is almost like a private lake. Wish bass and sandbass was better. Catfish always good, except for a few weeks in the winter, and we are not sure where they go.

What Marina do you keep your boat? Good chance I've smack it with a jig just kidding.

Bass and sandbas can be great when conditions are right. Right now the large majority of bass is way back in the scrub brush and you can't get to them. You can probably catch some bass off the flooded picnic tables and BBQ Grills.

I know on Toledo there are ramps on the LA side that are closed. These are the SRA and LA Rec sites. There are a few on Rayburn that are closing the camping side but the ramps will remain open. The Army Corp and Forrest Service ramps are open but the bathrooms are not due to no cleaning supplies available.

One yr when it flooded, i used a winch and manpower to get my boat off the trailer, and onto the ground, then to the water. Went duck hunting...come back...same scenario...use the polaris to winch the boat out drag it onto flat ground, then thats when the big parks and wildlife game warden boat shows up.. they idled watching me do my thing..it would take me about 30 mins of manhandling stuff using winches etc to load from flat ground... they idled the whole time... when i was done the gw hits the boat horn turns on his lights and waves his hand for me to come talk to him...
I walked to the waters edge, he yelled at me, you know the lakes closed right? I said well i thought that, but im not doing anything illegal to my knowledge. He said your exactly right. We cant keep you from being out here and accessing it, he said they had gotten word we were doing it...obviously wasnt my first rodeo. He then yelled back, well thats pretty ingenious you guys have a good day....
Motto of the story is, where theres a will theres a way.
