Default Big Oak Weekend.

Hey everyone,

I know I have not been around much this last year...but yes, still alive and kickin.

It's time again to start getting ready for our annual Big Oak, happy birthday Bisch hunt and get together.

This is not a SIGN UP thread, but rather a check in to see if anyone has date suggestions or other comments as I begin the process.

We normally have it some time in Feb, but not on Valentines day, although late Jan might be a possibility.

Let me know if there are any big archery events or other things we need to schedule around.

Sign up will come in a couple of weeks. The suggestion box is open.

I will work around whatever date is picked. I suggest picking a weekend like last year with excellent weather.

I always knew there was something wrong with you, Rick!

The weekend of Feb 10th or Feb 17th both look good to me!

While i have not yet met Marty, i would really like to and join the brotherhood of traditional with some more folks.

How many hunters are you expecting, and is this kind of an open invitation or closed event?

When I read the thread name earlier this morning and saw how many replies there were, I got all excited that I might actually be able to sign up for it! Then I realized it wasn't the signup thread........

I believe the hunting portion of the weekend is only allotted for 10 Hunters on a first-come-first-serve basis but anybody can come shoot on Saturday for the 3D tournament

Someday I would like to make this. I've been signed up the last 2 years but had to cancel. I have a javelina/pig hunt scheduled to start on Feb 25 and our TBH Trad Hog Hunt scheduled for April so that's going to pretty well fill up my Texas hunting for 2018(unless something in a better time frame comes along).

Always see the signup long after it is all filled

It was a good weekend. The enjoyment in stand is a standard above most ranches at Big Oak. Always lots of and varied game. The stands are comfortable and well placed. Time passes quickly and you are entertained. Back at camp was a great time. Unfortunately I had ate something on the way down that had my insides awry Friday night and most of Saturday. I was dehydrated and feeling puny. I enjoyed the 3D course as well as the shooting at camp. Seeing the assortment of bows, and hunters, was neat for this new to the adventure guy.
I got to go last time by the grace of Phillip Fields. Hopefully this time I'll be on the ball and get on early. And I will watch what I eat along the way if so.

I think we should do it on Valentine's Day. I'm just thinking I'd like to kill a red stag, and surely my wife wouldn't divorce me on Valentine's Day.
