Default My 2017 Season

This will be my live thread. Hopefully some other folks will do live threads as well, I really enjoy following everybody's hunts. As for me, I'm off all through next week until the following Tuesday. I'm about to buy some groceries and head to the lease. Good luck everybody!! I'll update as much as I can, service is spotty in places.

Good hunting Ryan. I've never had much luck "live" hunt posting. Always seem to be duds.

Thanks y'all. I'm ready for morning!! I'm here at my redneck weekend home.

I don't really have any work to do, so I'm just hanging out trying to burn out a stump and shooting a few arrows.

Count your blessings Ryan. I've been out west here for two days in non stop rain. Its a sloppy mess. You couldn't burn a stump here with a torch. Shoot straight

Well out of 4 hunters this morning zero deer were seen. I know it will get better, sometimes early season can be painfully slow here. I came back to town to grab some lunch and a couple things I forgot. I'll be back at it this afternoon.

I'm gonna head back out about 415 and be in the stand by 430. I'm gonna hunt a ladder stand this evening, I can't do evening hunts in a pop up when it's this warm!!

Another slow morning. Not unexpected really, early season is normally slow here. It's great being back in the woods though. I'm sticking with it, just a matter of time.

That's true!! After the hunt this morning i did a little looking around and found a different spot for this evening. That pop up kills me in the afternoons when it's hot, and I don't have a treestand setup for this east wind. I'm gonna set up close to a pond with my ghost blind this evening, lots and lots of hog sign in there but the deer are there too.

I'm persistent!! Gotta be hunting here lol. I love it though. This evening I'm set up on a road going down to our pond. View from road looking back to the ghost blind.

It's a 12 yard shot. In a perfect world they'll come from my right going toward the pond, and I'll have a perfect quartering away shot as they pass and can draw when their head is behind this tree.

That is of course if I see anything at all!! But you can't kill em if you're not out there.

Well sit tight an be still. That Ghost blind is really cool but that head swiveling at ground level will catch their eyes.

It's been so slow I haven't hunted for a couple hunts now. Sat it out yesterday evening and slept late this morning. I'm going to go check hog traps here in a little bit and then hunt this evening. Depending on how this evening's hunt goes, I may or may not hunt in the morning. I enjoy sleeping late too!!

Noticed the all evening full moon last night... Sleeping in late isn't so bad... get in a noonday sit instead.

We got a good rain Wednesday night and now that the ground is wet the deer sign in here is good. But it's gotta be the full moon and heat that's keeping me from seeing them. I've got a little hand corn out and 2 trails intersect right here in front of this blind. If I don't see anything this evening I'm gonna hunt mid day tomorrow. At this point it sure can't hurt.
