Sorry for the bad LDP had to pick up another hunter.
Shot this deer at 3 yards. It is a long story but basically I was half standing so I could shoot at a pig that was at 6 yards. The buck walked right in front of the blind at a high rate of speed. I drew and shot him as he went by the blind.

Congratulations on the harvests!

The buck I harvested was double checked by the Game Warden and found to be 12 1/2" wide. The meat will go to a family in need. I will see the JP. I will get fined by the State for replacement of that critter. I know better now. Oorah!

Briar friar sorry for the mess-up. Those fines are't cheap usually. Hope they cut you some slack for turning it in yourself. Lots of good successful hunts happening. Congrats to all.

Very few people these days would be willing to make that call and admit a mistake. I applaud your honesty. I hope it comes back around and you kill a monster down the road.

Not my kill but I thought y'all could appreciate it. My buddy Pat from Oklahoma has been after this buck for 4 years on his farm. He has only seen the buck twice in the daylight in that time. He sealed the deal this weekend. I was supposed to go to his place and hunt with him this weekend but I had to cancel the last minute. Really wishing I'd have went! Lol

Scott at 3 yards I probably would have missed over its back being so close

I will always respect people for doing the right thing, even when, or especially when, it is to their own hurt. We're humans, and that means we're flawed, and we make mistakes. You owned your mistake, and that's good enough for me!

I think the lack of penetration was due to hitting him in the spine. You just didnít get enough spine to incapacitate him!

Shot and smoked can have two completely different meanings. Smoked is usually reserved for shots that make a quick kill/recovery.

Did you recover the arrow anywhere? Going to agree with Bisch here. Looks like spine, but not enough to sever it.

hard to tell exactly where you hit but it does appear to be high and forward.

Not easy to good penetration there.
