well I just lucked out!!! I haven't had a lease in years and only found one that was worth looking into this summer but it didn't work out. 2 days ago my neighbor came down to my house and asked me to make and donate a knife for their Boy Scout troop's annual auction. I told them I would do it and she asked if I was a hunter...long story shorter, she said I could hunt their 300 acres...wheat field, creek, 2 ponds, mesquites and oaks. Went out last night and saw 15 deer (4 bucks, 16 does) and about 20 turkey. Best of all it's 200 yards to the stand from my back door!! JACKPOT!!

About 90 miles and takes about 1.5 hours to get there. Getting out of the DFW area is what takes me the longest. I cannot wait till they are finishes with Jacksboro Highway with the bridges. That will probably cut 10 minutes off my drive!

Depends on which place I'm going to.
My family's land in Clifton (The Hill) then about 45 minutes
My buddy's house in Mart then about 22 minutes.
The lease in Evant then about 70 minutes or so.

Too bad I have two jobs this year and wont be able to hunt any of them much this year.

It's funny that some of yall miss haveint a drive. When my folks bought their land a few years ago everyone just knew my dad was going to give up his spot on the lease he's been on 20+ years but he didn't. He says sure it's awesome being able to take a 100 yard walk out the door and be in his stand at home, but he said there is just something fun about the 3 hour drive to the lease that makes him enjoy it. He doesn't get to the lease near as much as he used to but he's still there every opener and for a week or two at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Default How far do you drive to get to your hunting place?

19 h 12 min (1,306.8 mi)
via I-85 S and I-10 W

This was my old drive. I made it a couple of times and actually convinced my wife to move from the lovely Charlotte NC to Baton Rouge so I could be closer to my hunting property. We tried to get to Texas but Baton Rouge was as close as we could get that made Financial sense because we both worked for the same company.

I have made it in 6.5 hours but it's usually 7.5 with stops. Usually go down to work twice and 3 times to hunt if I'm lucky.
