    DIY Field Cultivator

I've always wanted something I could drag behind a 4 wheeler to make some food plots/grass control/disrupt the dirt, so I decided to build a cultivator. Our place is in the Hill country and it is very rocky so a disc wouldn't work very well. A store bought/bolt together cultivator would need constant tightening of nuts and bolts so I had to build. After searching the web I was able to steal this design. I used 2in box tubing for 99% of the structure. A trailer jack allows for micro adjustment of the s-tines/sweeps depth control as well as raise them enough to have plenty of ground clearance while traveling between locations.

I figure I've got about $300 into the build.

I designed it to where it will fit inside the bed of my truck with the tailgate closed.

Tonight the axel gets cut down to size, the tongue gets trimmed, the trailer ball sleeve installed, and caps put in the open box tubing ends.

It is 4 feet wide at the back and a little over 5 feet front to back.

I will be running 4 s-tines with 7.5in and 4in sweeps depending on soil conditions.

All that's left to do is bolt the trailer ball sleeve to the front.

Really happy how this turned out.

Excelent and creative idea! Do you have a plan in case you need to add weight to it?

Yep, going to get some bags of quickcrete to lay between the s-tines and jack. There is just enough room to strap a few of them to the frame.

I made sure to leave room for additional weight even though I'm not trying to get/go all that deep.
