I was just in F&S for return.

They have a gun check at the front entrance.

There is a bullet trap where they want you to clear your gun.

I think that is 10 times more dangerous than everyone staying holstered up.

Were you open carrying? If concealed, I would never have pulled it out to clear it.

Is this for guns being brought in for gunsmithing? Or CHL holders? I can see that being a good idea for guns coming in for work, but heck with them if they get to check my concealed handgun.

I was concealed and stayed that way.

I was at the gun counter and a man was buying a holster for his concealed carry. The clerk asked if he was carrying. The man said yes. The clerk asked if he had cleared his gun up front

I spoke to the customer in the parking lot. We both thought it was a bad idea.

The sign reads gun check.

If it’s meant for return guns the clerk and the sign does not specify.

Someone from the gun counter needs to do this. The girl manning the station did not strike me as being gun savvy

They have a similar setup at Cabela’s in Lubbock... I believe it’s just for guns brought in for scope mounting or other work though.

I was in Cabela’s too but did not see it.

The way me and the other customer understood the clerk the customer was to had cleared the chamber up front. We spoke about it in the parking lot.

There was a girl up there standing by the box. However and whatever is checked someone from the gun department should handle it and not by the front door.
