Big Deer Like to Die...

Every year we lose a big deer or two. Another gut punch this morning. First picture is from our camera survey and this deer was alive and well on 8/11. Next two pictures are from this morning from one of the guys who works on the place. He was probably going to get a pass this year and maybe next anyway but this just sucks.

I suspect coyotes but there is also a pipeline being put in about 200 yards from where this deer was found so no telling. Another buck may have killed him too as he was running around with bigger in his bachelor group.

I'm sure that's a possibility too. Heading up later today to take a look around but not sure there's much to look at other than recovering the head.

That really does suck. I’ve had it happen too many times now and once by a poacher.

I don’t think another deer killed it if they are still in velvet.

Me too, I don't even wanna say what I'm thinking, but as soon as I saw it by the water hole I thought bluetongue, lets pray it's not. I also think it would not be from another buck given the time of year.

My thinking too...but maybe pen deer have a different temperament as much as that sucks you’d rather it be the later for sure though
