the birds really did not wanna work with me back in the spring so i had to go home empty handed. over the weekend i got to take one home. i had 8 toms come in from the north, every one of them had at least an 8" beard on them. there is a big clump of small oaks and brush about 30 yards to my north side and when the turkeys reached that this one bird came around it on my side while the rest went around out of sight. i did not plan on even trying if they all came by but when they split up i thought i would actually stand a chance of not getting busted. as the bird turned west and started feeding along the oaks i waited until his view was obstructed by cover between shooting lanes. i get to full draw without him noticing but he doesnt step out so after nearly 2 mins. i had to let down. right when i do he had done a 180 and was open in the previous lane. then does another 180 feeding to the west and i would try the draw while his view was blocked again. this time he stepped out after 20 seconds or so. made a 22 yard shot and on exiting the broadhead cut the wing clean off about 4-5" from the body. he flopped around 3-4 times and only moved 3 feet from where i hit him. weighed out at 22lbs. with a 10" beard and 1 5/16th in. spurs. sorry for the pics, its a little hard taking them by yourself with only a camera phone.
