I got into archery 4 years ago and yesterday i took my first buck.
He came in to the feeder at 9:00 AM following a doe and a yearling. Took him out at 20 yards with a double lung. I tried to wait but after 5 minutes i was packing up my gear. And at 10 minutes i was looking for blood. He went about 50 yards behind some thicket. good thing i did not wait, the coyotes had already started on him. I think they were trailing him and the does. They messed up a hind quarter and had open up the entrails, so it made for a messy quartering job.
It is bitter sweet, because we are in a one buck county. Now, I guess I will have to hunt the elusive unbranched antler deer.
I am very grateful and happy to take my first buck and be able to enjoy the outdoors and this sport.
