Trey Gowdy is Out

This was surprising. He's only 53 and it's not like he's in danger of losing his next election: he's won more than 65% in each of his elections.

I wonder if he's getting tapped to replace Sessions?

Edit: Out as in not running for re-election in 2018, not out of the closet .

I will miss him - sharp and tough. There's about to be an opening on the federal appeals court bench - the judge from the 4th Circuit is retiring (in S Carolina). It wouldn't surprise me to see ol' Trey in a black robe soon.

That would be best case scenario. I would love to read his dissents on various rulings...but I would like it even better if he contributed to a majority that did not result in the need for him to write a dissent in the first place!
