Last one for me, it was a beating. Could have just showed up afterwards and she never would have known the difference. 700 kids and called each by name and told where they were going to school......

Man people act like their kid graduating high school is such a big deal. I pretty much expect everyone of mine to at least graduate HS and Iíd be pretty freaking disappointed if they didnít. Mine are in a smaller school though so graduation isnít that big of a beating.

The name calling for 500 students isn't the worst part for me...It's listening to the endless buttkissing and lies. Long ago it was stretching the truth saying how great everyone was(teachers, principle, supers, students etc) Now they go way too far overboard.

Iíve been to everyone of my kids graduation. (7) Handed the majority of them their diploma. On the school board, so Iím still going. Average about 90 graduates. We have a bet every year to how long it will last. No speaker. A prayer before, 2 speeches(Valedictorian, salutatorian)each one walks across stage to receive diploma, ending prayer and walk out, never over 30 minutes. We have award banquets for the rest. Important to the kids so I enjoy being a part of it.

My son's HS was 500+ graduates - a real beating to sit through.
My daughter attending a small, private school, 20 or so graduates. Time spent on each kid was substantial (short slide show, etc.), but since we knew them all it was fun.

Both boy's high school graduation was over 1400 students (read every name). About the same for Aggie Engineering for the oldest. Probably only about 500 for the youngest Business School graduation. I wouldn't miss them for anything (though they are a bit painful). One more to go when the youngest completes his Masters.

I really find it surprising that most schools still do a prayer at the beginning.

My son was asked to say the prayer at his Kindergarten graduation last week and he did a great job.

The smalls schools are almost as brutal as the large schools because they add more fluff. endless slide shows, announce all the scholarships, where everyone is going, their dogs name, etc..

Sat through my oldest daughters last Friday. Graduating class was 59 students. I was proud and wont complain ( and im a whiner ) There were a few times when I wondered if she was going to stick to it, I was a bad example and didnt have the moral authority to really force it. ( I was kicked out at 18yo for getting married-Christian school ) She turned 18 in Sept so could have dropped out if she wanted. Its so cliche', but you want your kids to do better than you, and she has. I am proud.

I pray I am attending another next May.

As a side note, it did make it a bit more interesting that two of Chuck Norris' kids were graduating with my daughter.....

Oddly enough it was my nephew's graduation. He was 4 or 5 and from what I understand like your daughter, got bumped down one.

I was class President, my speech was quick and I only thanked the parents... My words of advice was to "always drink the good beer first". The crowd started cheering and the look on the administrations face was priceless..

My college graduation took two hours before my name was called.. I was taking shots of whiskey from a flask the whole time so it wasn't to bad.

We have to go to the HEB Center, pay to park, go through security and all that jazz.

It's not like the good old days where you just graduate in the measly 10 million dollar stadium football field.

Oh the valedictorian speech was a girl who talked the entire time about her being judged because she's a woman...How she overcame the stereotypes blah blah blah..It was really bad!

Do you not go support your wife every year?

I sat through Texas Tech graduation weekend before last. Almost 4 hours....that included a keynote speech in a monotone voice about rich oppressing the poor and destruction of the earth from methane gas. We sat so long I still have the hemorrhoid to remind me.

Congrats to you and your kid!

My kid graduated from oak ridge in Conroe isd. Tuesday at the woodlands pavilion, 958 kids. Under the top was hot a crap, on the hill was a nice breeze. It sucked to be under the top. They honored one kid that never missed a day of school from kindergarten to graduating high school.

Very true ! I am friends with a few teachers and let’s just say they are average people, and I will leave it at that. You don’t want to know what they think of the students, principals or each other.

I have been 3yrs in a row at a 5A school and have another one tonight. I despise it and 2 of them have been my kids. I have a 6yr break after tonight before my youngest graduates. Hopefully he will decide to go fishing or to the lease that night.

It sucks having a last name that starts with a V. I donít give a s**t about looking at baby pictures of someone elseís kids and I donít need to hear insightful words from an 18yr kid.

We had a ****** off feminist speak at the one today. Total victim in every way. I wanted to stand up and tell her to shut the hell up. Real class act to act that way at a graduation. Other than that nothing much but a whole lot of *** kissing.

I brought a whole bunch of these graduation bingo cards to pass the time.

I’m senior class sponsor so as such, I am in charge of graduation. My coworkers always have an under/over bet going on how quick I can get it done yet still do the kids a service. 54 minutes last night. Graduated 71 of them. Beautiful setting. Axis howling in the hills behind the football field. Sun setting over the stands to the west. 28 years of edumacation completed. On to 29.
