We are back in the brush for our last deer hunt of the 2020-2021 season.

I'm perched on a platform in a bow Blynd at 23. My lovely daughter, who has killed 5 deer this year with her Mathews Jewel, is tucked in a tent at Georges a few hundred yards from me. There are some other recognizable names scattered around the ranch. Maybe they'll chime in.

Cady won't be here until after the evening hunt.

Lilo and I are locked in at 7.5, looking for a mature bucks to cap her season! Jeanette is to the north at 7, which is a big, comfy Atascosa blind with vertical bow windows. That area is known as a mature buck hangout, so hopefully she’ll connect on a nice one!

Cell service is spotty where we are, but I’ll try to update as I can.

Hannah and I had an encounter with the mature 8 yesterday afternoon. He came in with another, younger broken 8. The broken 8 hung out in our shooting lane at 15 yards but the bigger buck stayed outside of 24 yards. He was in early, so we were going to give him a chance to come in closer, but he got nervous about something off to the west and eased off. The other buck remained for quite awhile after.

We are back at the same location this morning hoping for another meeting with the bigger 8!

The mature 8 was coming in but hung up at about 40, then turned and walked away. A bird was going nuts beside us and carrying on about something. He left, bird stopped. 🤷*♂️🤦*♂️
