We had a cheer weekend in Galveston - we took our week off that week in baseball thankfully.

Sounds like a lot of steak to be had this past weekend. Those rings look shiny!! Congratulations all the way around!

We will be in Plano this weekend. Our AAA division at Triple Creek didnt make. Have a scrimmage tonight. Got back to outside lessons last night. Had a great workout.

Sons team took the championship again (3rd in a row) last weekend in a close game. Play again this weekend at the SA Railyard. We will see if they can keep it going. The team is really starting to come together.

Yes 10u, we are already in the double points turn in Boerne next week. Since this is their first season together we are staying close to home until the state tourns start up.

We got all dressed up and warmed up for 5:20, Mother Nature decided it wasn't time to dance... our pool games start at 8:00 am. We wear RED on Sunday and it's going to be a long day!

Well we just got home from Triple Creek. My son’s team went 1-1 today. Had over an hour rain delay but finished the second game with light rain. They are the 3rd ranked team coming out of pool play so we drew the short straw and have the 8am game against the number 6 team. Hope for a long day of baseball tomorrow.

My son played short, pitcher, catcher and left field today. Good times

Had a great weekend - Jax finished off pool play with a scoreless inning pitched. He batted lead off all weekend, and scored a run leading off every game we played. We got the 1 seed going into Sunday.

Semi final game in the bottom of the final inning with 1 out and bases loaded, down by a run - Jax knocked a line drive double to the gap to walk it off. Championship game he threw out a runner going from first to third. They won, capping off a great weekend.

We got rained out Saturday, showed up flat Sunday morning for and 8:00 am start to get pool games in, but woke up for the second game. Kids didn't find their groove in bracket play and we ended up getting destroyed by a great little Bad Company squad who ended up winning the ship.

lil man balled out! i know some can say its about development and not winning at this point, but winning dang sure makes the early mornings and LONG weekends better

both of mine will be playing the utrip NIT this weekend. we only have 5 teams in our 7u pool so far, but 2 are from oklahoma and 1 from louisiana so we will get a few new teams to play.

there are 30 teams in the 10u pool, it would be nice to get a saturday against some new teams but somehow it doesnt ever seem to work out that way. we have 2 arkansas teams, 3 oklahomas, a louisiana and a california coming down.

Went 2-0 in our first tourney saturday, and got thumped Sunday by a pretty good team. Bats came out cold and defense dissappeared. Got a ways to go, but it was a better showing than I thought.

It looks like Snoop is gonna have to play some catcher to get much time on Sunday's, so I'm gonna go find him a mitt. He did well at it yesterday, but he said "that guy throws too hard".

Have him wear his batting glove on his glove hand!

He can always find a spot on a team if he can catch (and more importantly hold runners).

How old is your boy Dale? Is he still playing up?

He wears his batting glove under his glove all the time. He is six playing on an 8U team. He plays the field quite a bit on Saturday, but coach prefers the older kids for the most part on Sunday. He's a good enough players to get significant time in the field, but we haven't had enough real games yet for it all to work itself out. In the meantime, if catching gets him on the field then he will catch, he also likes it.

This 8U team was supposed to be a 7U team, but some kids bailed after the original try out, so they had to change to eight to get enough kids late in the game. I'm not crazy about it, but that's where we are. He is also playing on the 8U rec ball team, so he'll play most of the game there, if not all.

Looks like the Super NIT is overbooked - Friday pool play was not in the cards, lol.

Scheduled Daughter's Bday dinner Friday night with Family in from out of town to celebrate.

Hey gingib, how about you just shut the **** up? I mean really, you're wasting your time putting together all of these moronic thoughts, and no one cares that you washed socks for a Division III program for two weeks back in your 20s.

We are in league ball as well as select ball. We play and pay for both of those as well... But we don't have to worry about being on the board of the local league nor prepping fields, making schedules, ordering uniforms, etc etc etc.

Its obvious, that you don't agree with it, so move along Jack***.

I coach an 8U rec league team and can see why some kids and parents choose the select route.

You have kids that love the game, love getting better and want to compete. The parents are supportive and let the coach coach. These kids develop. Most will see outside instruction in the offseason and some during the season. They often practice at home.

You have kids that like to play and practice on their own some, but only during the season. Parents are mostly bought in.

THEN, you have the kids you more or less babysit. Complain at practice, don't listen, NEVER practice on their own. Show up late. Usually have to be reminded to tuck in their shirt, put their hat on straight, etc. Parents rarely buy in. Most of these parents will sit in the car during practice. Last fall I had a parent that sat at the top of the bleachers and read a book, never looking up. These kids and parents shy away from the competitive aspect of the game. This spring I have an 8yo girl on my team who has never played baseball or softball before. She didn't know which hand her glove went on, had never held a bat before and I don't think had ever thrown anything in her life. The first two games she struck out 5 of 6 at bats. These at the kids that are driving select ball and I get it. I spend good money on my kids outside instruction and I can see why other parents and kids get frustrated.

I held a contest over Spring Break with my team

$10 TCBY gift card for the kid that caught the most consecutive throws from a parent.

ALSO

$10 TCBY gift card for the kid that attempted the most catches.

Both cards went to my top 5 kids because their parents got involved. I wasn't shocked.

We're not too worried about it.. we knew theyd be bumped .. but were signed up and prepared for this weekend.. now the open tourneys at nations are full (and we're not going to beaumont) ..so we're gonna go give the 9U kids a run for their money..

Scrimmaged our 10U team tonight... first time ever pitching to batters and the boys did great with strikeouts flyouts and a ton of ground balls against a team of boys whos lightest kid outweighs our heaviest by 40 lbs...
NO WALKS or hit batters.

My lil man smoked a 55-60 pitch to right field.. wasnt scared.. was fun to watch... 9u tourney should be a cool experience for these boys

Man I hope they can carry it over

My 10u is playing a team from Oklahoma we haven't seen before and a FW Frogs team we haven't played since they beat us in 8u, good to see some new teams. We are playing at a dump of a park though with 175ft fences, ridiculous that an NIT is being played there.

A good friend and old teammate of ours plays for academy select now and they drew the 2 best teams in the tourney, the Bombers and Banditos...

7u will be in Mansfield at BLD against 2 new teams.
