Default Traditional FSC Week 36

This shot will be from 15 yards (8 for the kiddos).

Tape a penny heads up in the center of an 8.5 X 11 inch sheet of paper.

Measure from the edge of your shaft to the center of the EYE of the R in LIBERTY.

If you hit the penny, measure from the center of your ding/dent to the center of the eye of the R.

If you ding Old Abe you're DQed.

Shoot Straight & Have Fun !!!

Rick

Labor Day.

Lots of y'all should be off today, so go smash a penny.

I would, but I've already shot today.

I'll go first. Not my greatest shot but I guess it will have to do. If I held the tape one way it was 7/8ths. But I couldn't keep the tape in place and shoot the pic. I'll take the 1" a little low and left and be happy. If I made that shot, cold, on a deer I would be tickled.

Well I hate to admit it but I've slung a few arrows today in my quest to kill Abe. I've come really close several times.

But other than one grazing blow to his chest by this bottom arrow my efforts have been exhausting and futile.

Although this wound would have been fatal back in that era I now understand why a pistol at point blank was more effective.

Well the total wasn't that great 2 11/16 inches, but....I did manage to get as close to the R without hitting Abe as I think I could have.

Good shooting, so far!
Shot mine, a little left and low -- using a Rick Barbee measurement scale -- looks to be 1-63/64" from the "eye" of the "R".

Really wanted to see if I could actually shoot through the penny. Finally, hit it twice on about arrows 17 and 20. Bag target seems too soft/bouncy to support a shoot-through of the penny.

I've shot a lot of pennies with an 80 # compound and I've never shot through one unless it was on a solid background like plywood

Good shooting guys. Still lots of light left to get this one done.

I didn't bother measuring. Ellis has me beat.
Probably just shy of 3" with arrow #1.

Hit the penny with shot #3, and shot #5.

Did my penny have a thin spot, or is my recurve a monster?

Dang Rick. I guess those 20lbs more than mine makes a heck of a difference in penetration.
