I'll have to find it. Someone this weekend told me and tod to use something but can't remember what. Fletch rite, maybe. Said heating it made them slide right out

That's a good fletch glue. But for glue in points and inserts. White hot melt. At hobby shops. Or Walmart craft isle

I know how to bare back.

How do you bare shaft?
I think Tod said to shoot it through paper and then with fletches. I can do that.

It's basically shooting groups of bare and fletched shafts, then cutting and or changing point weight until they group tight. Then you make the rest of the arrows match the fletched ones you worked with

Yes. White melts at cooler temps. So you don't hurt the carbon with the point.

The only thing is you should just make a few and get a little form consistency before trying it or you'll go crazy

Dmack- does that hot melt glue hold the inserts even in carbons?

Yes. We use it on the points, Inserts and the bushings. It works best that we have seen so far. Gene curry told us to use it.

I have used that also. Takes a hotter flame to melt and if your not careful it can damage the shaft. It's also a hard glue. Cracks like glass.

Ok thanks. I will look for the white hot melt and give it a try. I've been using super glue gel for a long time but it takes away the ability to broadhead tune.

True statements.
Also, over time it gets brittle and fails to hold. That's why we switched to super glue years ago!

I guess it would stay softer too...? I have a hard time with hitting hard objects that cause the insert to pop out just a tad and it bulges out the shaft. I'm guessing it's the CA glue trying to be too tight of a bond and causing that bulge....?

So I guess the white hot can take some abuse and not pull out of arrow in a tight target, or on an impact that would cause the nock to blow out, good with judo abuse and stump shooting with blunts. Us trad guys can get pretty dang hard on arrows!

It won't help on bushings popping out. When an arrow hits something hard. Something has to give. And it's the bushing a lot of times.

Bushing as in insert? I can live with that as long as it doesn't create that bulge that to me looks to be compromising the carbon. And as long as it doesn't pull out in a tight target.

The bushing is the end of the arrow that holds the nock.

Sorry guys for being late on the response. Still recovering from the pretty awesome trip. A buddy I met on a couple TBH hunts invited me up to hunt turkeys with him as he occasionally has them on his place. If that didn't pan out, we'd at least do some bowfishing one night as well.

To make a long story short, the turkeys we did see clearly seemed to have gone through the peak of the mating season about a month earlier. I had read that some folks were reporting that on here, and based on what we saw, I'd say that is what was likely happening where we were. They would respond to calls, but they would just hang up outside of bow range. We decided to ditch the decoys and just see if we could call a few into an thicker area where there was a permanent blind and feeder. The idea was to get them in and then hope they wandered by. One morning, they did just that and we had our opportunity. For the rest of the hunts, they wouldn't even do that. I filled in the lulls in activity with the occasional attempt and miss on some tree rats since where we were hunting there was no closed season.

One night we did some bow fishing. I tell you what, that is some stupid crazy fun. Ended up killing 13 fish within the span of about 3 hours, but I'd say based on how my shoulder feels, I took about 80+ shots. It took me at least 20 before I got my first. Not only were the fish moving, but the boat was drifting pretty good... so you just have to get used to the pace.

There is a learning curve to hitting fish, especially if they're deep!
