What do yall consider a good range finder for hunting at 300-500 yards in the mountains on a budget of $150-$250?

Looks like the Leupold RX-950 is in your price range. For the record, I’m a Leupold homer so there may be other better options at that price point, I just trust their optics. Good luck!

I've spent tons of times searching for the best hunting range finders for long distant shooting accuracy. Finally ended up purchasing the TecTecTec ProWild Hunting Rangefinder from Rangerexpert.

I have Leupold 600 it will no range at 200

My old Nikon crapped out and I didn't want to drop $300+ so I got this one off AMZ. Used it a couple times, easy to use, went out to 650 for me. $110 with good reviews.

I've got a Sig Kilo 2000 and its amazing! New they are a little more then your budget but you can find good used ones if you look hard enough. Go to longrangehunting.com and look at the optics classified section. Great deals to be had there.
