So....it seems that a boat ramp parking lot at noon 2 hours from home is the best time and place to replace trailer hub bearings....

Come by MasterHitch and we can take care of it. Better yet, we can put a new axle with the vault hubs. Don't have to look at them for 5 years.

I have vault hubs on my trailer. What do I need to look at? Mine are 4 years old this year

Grab the top of the tire and try and shake them in and out. See if the hub feels loose on the spindle.

Same thing I do with bearing hubs.

If the vault axle has play is there a way to re pack them like bearing axles?

Yes sir. We have to take the dust caps off. Pull the bearings, clean them and check if good. If so, then add a new seal and then pump in the hybrid grease.
Pretty much the same as regular bearings, just better product.

My buddy’s trailer, not mine. I was just the one that knew how to fix it and had the tools....

A new tandem aluminum trailer is on my short list. I’m interested in the Vault hubs unless I have to take to a dealer for cleaning and repacking. I would rather do it myself every couple of years than have to take it in every 5 years.

They tried reviving it for 30 min but it didn't make it. They salvaged all the meat. I'll let poco tell his story. Pretty awesome
