Help me pick a weedeater

I know you mentioned getting a Sthl but i would look at a Shindaiwa straight shaft, too. I have had one for the last 13 years. It cranks on the first or 2nd pull every time. Almost every commercial lawn service I see driving down the road has Shindaiwas on their trailers.

Shindaiwa and Echo have merged. Same company and same distributor. Shindaiwa just puts out big units. Homeowner just needs the Echo PAS 225VP
Retailss for $299 String trimmer attachment and Edger attachment.

best part is the gas and oil is separate no rebuilding the carburator every yr

have had mine for three yrs now cuts 22" so u can use it as a mower in small areas

Thanks for the replies guys, going to check them out tomorrow. I love my stihl chainsaw (ms390) starts everytime. I will let you know what i end up with.

Shindaiwa is the best hand trimmer in the biz right now. We use Stihl for our chainsaws and blowers, though. Stihl is nice for a homeowner because they have a really nice click link system, so for about $400 you can have a great weedeater and edger that will last you many years as long as you don't put regular gas in it.

Echo. I have had mine for twelve years. Not one problem with it.

Anyone having issues with "highend" trimmers?

I havn't had any yet, but I've heard of the echos petering out sooner than expected.

I have a solution that I'm attempting to prove. I've started making sure I use ethanol treatment and fuel stabilizer in my gas can with the oil mix.

Maybe that will help keep the rubber pieces intact and the fuel burning cleaner.
