ISO mesquite, cedar, pecan and oak

Have a buddy that recently got a lathe and is now hooked on wood working.
He is really enjoying testing his skills on some wild and creative ideas

I'm looking for good solid pieces of Mesquite, Cedar, Pecan or any other nice hardwood
(not really looking for elm or hackberry etc.)

pieces ideally about 12"-18" in diameter and around 2' long
    (good fireplace log)

I'm willing to come pick up whatever you don't want, not looking to pay for anything. San Marcos area only please

Let me know what you've got and want gone!!! Just looking help out a buddy

    thanks tbh

Don't write off Elm and Hackberry! Hackberry checks and cracks bad if its not sealed with wax when cut. So, when getting hack berry 4-6" of each end of the log will be waste. Here is some rough turned "green" or wet Hackberry that I'll put in shavings in a brown paper sac and let dry for a few months then finish turning it. This other is Elm and I'll put it away to dry also. Bradford Pear turns really nice!

Don't pass up the ornamental trees like Bradford Pears and Mimosa Trees, I just scored some this morning, good looking wood! Crape Myrtles have a bad tendency to crack after they are finished so they are no good. If you can get where a limb was or the trunk divided (called crotch wood) there usually some nice grain patterns.

I am sure we have some mesquite that was cut down to put in a new fence that would fit what he needs, but a long way from you!

I have some huge Spanish Oaks that are down in Pipe Creek.
No idea if those are good for turning.
