    AR Optics Set Up

Not looking for brands or anything, but how do most of you have your AR’s set up? I’m thinking that this will be used mainly for predators out to about 100 yards, and maybe some deer hunting.

    Thanks,
    Skooter

I would go with more magnification 3-18 or 5-25ish

When I was young with steady nerves and good eyes a 4x Weaver was fine. Now Im old and use a 4.5 x12

Let's see, the house gun (5.56) has a red dot, the daytime pig/coyote gun (6.8) has a 2.5x10, the nightime pig/coyote gun (6.8) has an ATN NV 4x, the .450 Bushmaster has a 2x7 shotgun scope, and the soon-to-be-mine AR pistol will wear a Trijicon RMR. There is one more in the safe, (5.56) that wears a 3x9 scope. Different optics for different purposes.

As soon as the next Dem is elected Prez, I'm gonna sell two of them !

Thanks y’all. The 1-6 option sounds like it would fit the bill. I have a high power one on my 22-250 for long range varmint work.

                      Another vote for 1-6x

1-6 or 1-8 is plenty. But wouldn’t go past 2-10

There’s not much difference in price between 1-6 and 1-8 at least in budget optics. I’d go 1-8.

Problem with the 1-6 and 1-8 optics is the small objectives. I didn't like the light gathering ability for hunting.

Most 1-6 scopes have a 24mm objective so you still have a 4mm exit pupil.

1-8 will have a 3mm exit pupil. Not preferred but a lot better than a lot of these high magnification scopes that people go nuts over.
