This morning as I left for work at 6 am, I traveled in my Silverado 2500 truck down the one lane dirt (mud) road, which is a half mile long. The bright beams shone down the dark tunnel tree lined road about 200 feet. Rabbits darted out of the way and then something up ahead caught my attention.
It looked like a donkey. My neighbor's 2 donkeys - one white, one regular grey, keep getting out. As I drove down the road, I was positive they were out again and I was seeing the white donkey. I kept my eyes peeled for the grey one. As I approached, the donkey appeared to dart into the brush but quickly came back.
I was 20 feet away, driving 10 mph and I stopped 10 feet from the beast. I was stunned. This was not a donkey but one huge hog!
His back was higher than the hood on the truck! He was easily as big as a full grown regular sized donkey! He was solid white. He stood looking at me and then went about his business munching away at stuff. He walked to the side of the road and then came back to the middle. Not wanting him to challenge my poor truck, I laid down on the horn!
He looked at me and then quickly walked - not run - walked up the trail where I have a game cam. I cannot wait to check that camera!
I've been planning to hunt hogs Saturday night and waffling between using my bow or gun. That big one convinced me = the 30-30 will be with me on Saturday night!
