Colorado Public Land Bulls

Thanks everyone. Long story short on the "pack out" is that we used a new Kifaru pack called an F-250. There was a lease road running close that was only accessible through private land. We were able to get in touch with the landowner for access to the public land and then drove to within a couple hundred yards of both elk. The drag was brutal, and getting them into the truck bed whole (minus the guts)was also tough, but it was much better than packing them out of that valley! That truck couldn't have looked any prettier driving down the road.

One of the guys at our campground wasn't happy that some boys from Texas were just showing up and shooting all of THEIR elk.

I'm figuring you were on NFS or BLM, so that makes them OUR elk. Big congrats!

Great job! Right place , right time it sounds like.
Be interested to hear how old that larger bull is, much wear on the teeth? He looks like a really nice young bull or an older one losing some point length.
Carabiner and some rope or a come a long will pull them right in the bed using the tie downs mounted on the sides.
Age them about 10-14 days before processing.
