TYHP Huntmaster Training Schedule - 2018

Would you like to become a Texas Youth Hunting Program (TYHP) Huntmaster?

We will train you on every aspect of planning, coordinating and managing safe, educational hunts that will help create and sustain the next generation of hunters. Many TBH'ers are involved in TYHP, and they will attest to the fun and fulfillment of working with our program.

We would love to have you attend the training on one of these upcoming weekends - please visit https://www.texas-wildlife.org/resources/events/ to sign-up today! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

    Thanks,

    Bob Barnette
TYHP N. TX Field Operations Coordinator

ttt....Just a reminder if anyone is interested in TYHP Huntmaster training. We have two courses coming up in the next few weeks, and space is available! I'll be the Lead Instructor for the one at Mason Mountain WMA, which is a beautiful property. Come join us and help us get more kids involved in hunting! PM me if you have any questions.

I was a TY huntmaster when I was living out there. Awesome thing for the kids and some great bonding time between kids and parents. I loved doing it and still have my 10Lb notebook with all the study material. Is John Miller from Houston still big in the program?

Yes, John is still very involved! And just so we don't scare anybody, the old Manual has been revised and condensed, so no more 10-lb books, LOL!

You can register via this link: https://www.texas-wildlife.org/resources/events/. Cost is $55 if you are a member of the Texas Wildlife Association, or $90 if you are not yet a member. The price difference is the membership fee.

The course format consists of sessions on the Friday evening, plus all day Saturday. Lodging and meals are provided, and you can stay over Saturday night if needed in case you have a long drive to get home. You don't really need any gear per se, but some of the activity is outdoors so you would need to dress accordingly. Bring some boots, rain gear, bedding, and towels and you're set.

Bump it again, I've enjoyed the hunts I've assisted with for RGB. Earlier this year I escorted a mother and son that had never hunted, they seemed to enjoy the hunt even though we didn't see squat. Camp life is very nice as well, and this was primitive camping.
