    Road feeder to spread seed?

Anybody ever use a road feeder to spread food plot seed? Been thinking about how I want to go about seeding plots and thought of this. Don't see why it wouldn't work .......

Yes, I planted oats to Throw the seed after plaiting. I then drug the field to get seeds covered with dirt.

Yes. The main thing to watch is the size of the exit hole on the road feeder. It is more than likely made to throw corn. If you are throwing a small seed it may let too much out. The right size washer should do the trick to reduce the amount of see thrown or in a pinch a cut up beer can...

My road feeder is homemade. It has a sliding regulator plate so I should be able to choke down pretty easily to size it for the seed. I’m gonna give it a shot. Thanks

The road feeder works good for seed spreading, but don't use for fertilizer. It will corrode your feeder.

Will work but doesn’t plant as even or consistently as I like. Will work in a bind but other methods work better

Simple pull behind spreader would be best for like 100$. Your household spreader would work if your not doing a huge one

The problem with using them is, they drop a lot of seed straight down and throw very little out!
