First post on this Forum- What/how to plant Kansas

We have 150 acres of hard wood ridges in Eastern Kansas. Up top, just about in the middle of the place is a old over grown clear cut. It is the only place the sun hits the ground. Right now it is only about 50 yards diameter, but with some clearing of small stuff would be 50% larger. There is also another area about twice that size that looks to have been clear many years ago that now has the only cedar on the place.
Wondering what options we have on planting the place. On one side of the place down in the bottom are miles of soybeans.
Not sure if we will be able to get the edges cleared to double the size, or cut all the cedar to get a really big plot opened`, but what recommendations do y'all have?
I have seen the "no plow/till" seed that you blow away the leaves and all.
Looking for late season, after the soy beans are cut food plot. We have turkey so chufa would be a good thing.
    What say ye??

Most of the soybeans are usually gone by first part of November. Plant some wheat

Cereal Rye (not rye grass). The most cold tolerant of all the cereal grains. Deer love it and it will grow in a parking lot. Mix in some white clover with it.
