So what time of year is the best for the most consistent fishing ?

The best time to go is when mother nature cooperates. June was a little warm in the middle of the day but we still found fish in the deeper areas. I hear May and October are great months. I know there are a couple guys from here going in October. I am looking forward to their trips.
