    Trophy Aoudad

It was a long three hours. Up, down, side to side at 4500'. We spotted a group of 80 with three trophy granddads hanging behind 1,000 yards up a mountain.

Straight up we went, with the wind in our face. Had an opportunity at a shaky, 350 yard shot, but they spotted us.

Off, the group went, over several peaks. Onward we followed. We finally caught up with most of the herd grazing and some bedded. Wind is 30mph out of the north, light rain. Sneak in and set up for a 400 yard shot. Wind is terrible at this point. Soon after finding the big boy, they spot us chatting and off they go. Straight up and over and gone!

We radio our other group to meet us at a peak. It's lunch time and the Crown is starting to wear off.....

As we get the the meeting point, I crest the peak just to make sure they weren't there.

Low and behold, the big boy we were after was standing in a bowl broadside at 175 yards!!!!!

I call my wife over, put up the sticks and end the Saga...

One shot from the 340 Weatherby and he dropped like a rock. Got to give it to my wife for all the work it took to take a trophy like this!

The Crown flowed after this harvest, and still is! Congrats Randi!!!!

    Cheers!

BTW, this is was self guided hunt on a private ranch is West Texas! Big Bend area.
