I never have found an electric that gives me a decent shave that'll last more about 6 hours. After trying numerous 2 and 3 blade razors, I finally settled on Gillette Good News "Pivot Plus" disposable. Cost less than .60 a razor and each one will last about a week, then I toss it and move on.

My facial hair is very coarse and an electric doesn't do a very good job for me. I use a three or four blade disposable.
I don't spend too much money on razors since I have to shave everyday, unless I want to grow a beard. I also shave as soon as I get out of the shower and use hot water and shaving gel.

I have very sensitive skin on my face/neck and I always seemed to get horrible razor burn also. I developed a "system" when I shave and to some/most, it may seem over the top; however, it works awesome for me...
In this order,
-Hot water
-Sensitive skin shaving gel
-Mach 3 Turbo
-Moisturizing face wash
No more razor burn for me and a super close shave every time! The trick for me was shaving in the shower. That alone made a huge difference! I just use a removable shower mirror (6"x6").

So this is probably the hairdresser coming out in me but, Redken makes a deep conditioner called intense renewal. My husband uses it to shave with and he never has razor burn....... It had lots of benefits but what you need to know is that it contains shea butter which will soften the hair and it's also ph balancing, so you shouldn't have to use aftershave. A jar of it costs about $15, but it lasts a long time and if it works it's worth it!
