You don't have to be draw, just go to the sportsmans center to get a permit. http://forthoodhunting.com/ Oh BTW there is a meeting september 30th at the sportmans center about changes the public might want to see in the hunting program in the future (the only change I have heard so far is more archery only areas), they are trying to get a better turnout that the meeting they held back in the summer.

Are you allowed to shoot exotics on fort hood?, I fish there a few times a year and have seen axis deer in unit 115. I just checked the map and we fish all along units 115 and 23, I had no idea you could hunt in there.

How would a person go about joining the hood bowhunting club?
and what are the chances of getting in on the tela-trac for an archery only area?

Getting in by tele-trac is no problem, especially this time of year, you don't have to go to the archery only areas, you can hunt any of the un guided areas during bow season.

can you hunt archery-only areas with bow during regular season? I think the Army will keep me busy right through the 4th and I don't have a rifle/slug gun/or muzzleloader! It would be cool if they left them open, but I don't think they do...

yes, the areas that are archery only are close to buildings/installments etc, thats why they don't want long range weapons around there, its basically a safety precaution.

I know why they are archery only... but I was asking if they stay open during the general season from November through January.

Talked to the Ft Hood game wardens yesterday at the expo... sounds like there's alot of hogs to be had! Now, if my training schedule would ease up a bit... Is there a Hood Bowhunters Club meeting on tuesday and if so at what time?
