Default Hello

New to TBH and just wanted to say hi and to introduce myself. I’m looking to get back into bows and hunting. Hunted as a kid and teen but hunting buddies moved, got married, had a kid and life happened.

I love the outdoors and I need to reconnect! So, here’s my first step!

Hope everyone is have a great day and good luck if you’re in a stand!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I do have a quick question I haven’t found an answer yet. On public land, can you pack a deer out and leave the bones? I know you need to check the deer in at some spots but is taking the sex or head enough?

Welcome Dad!

To answer your question, I believe you can only quarter your deer before taking it home (final destination). There is a thread or three on this very subject.

Just found the section on the TPW site. I can live with quartering. My wife would lose her mind if I brought home a field dressed deer. Little back ground on her, raised in Plano with two very loving white collar parents. She’s never seen or shot a gun till I came a long. She had never seen a dead animal that you would eat. I believe the term is yuppie! Slowly working on her but as Jason Garrrett would say “it’s a process”.
