Clamp or weld something like a small "goal post" on your feeder leg that is 13" long to judge his width. Heck, you might be able to tape a 13" long section of an actual tape measure.
I know what these guys are saying, but you have to be the one ready to deal with it IF he turns out to be 12&7/8". They DO write a nice fine for such if you happen to get checked. No doubt that one is no baby, but according to our wonderful wildlife biologist that does not happen. "Age and width of rack are directly proportional." Literal words from one who was booked trained...
Good looking deer though. Any side profile full body pics? I am a ;little surprised by the lack of brow tines on a deer like that.
Know what you mean. Couple of years ago, I watched a nice 10-point during archery-only season for a total of about 45 minutes over two or three different hunts at 10 yards and just could not see 13-inches of width. Never saw him after rifle season started.
