    Bow Stand/Platform

I created this monster out of some existing parts that were trying to be a Tripod.

    9'8" To Top of deck
    4'x4' Deck Size

Here is the front side. I have 2 pieces of all-thread to stiffen up the front corners since there is not alot of support there.

I have it rigged out to take a expandable Boat seat pole and either a casting seat or regular seat. Or you could just use it for a platform.

One thing that I am having issues with is I have some twist in the stand when I am on top of it. I am thinking that I can cross brace the 2 non-ladder legs. Would this take out my twisting?

I also have a ring welded to the bottom that I will used to anchor it to the ground.

Let me know what you fabricators think on the twisting.

Nice start! I would cross brace all three legs. If you brace only the back two you will still get some movement from the ladder side.

What would you brace with? Cable, Tie Straps, Wood? Other?

I would use something rigid, like metal tubing. This could be square or round. One fairly inexpensive option is EMT (electrical) tubing. This is readily available at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

I was just thinking that as well...

I have some old chain link fence top rail laying around. I could flatten out the the ends and self tap them to the legs...

          Just might work.

          Thanks for the info.

            That would work great.

I can't see the bottom of the legs where they touch the ground. If you don't have a flat base on them I would weld one on to help keep them from digging into the dirt....

                  That's what I'm talkin' bout! 4' x 4' platform ... AWESOME!
I hate hunting from little bitty tripods that you can barely put your feet and your pack on the platform.

If you X brace all three legs, you can do it with anything ... rigid or not. Even cable would work because when you would twist so that one cable would go slack, the other cable would be tight. If you do use something rigid, it'll be that much stronger in the end.

Added some bracing to the stand today. Its much more stable now.

Nice thing is, it breaks down to be hauled in to the woods very easily.

Very cool....plus with the bracing you have more to attach burlap, netting, brush, etc.
