I have been offshore a few times and I wanted my own boat, I'm not rich and I had a strict budget so I got me a 2008 sea fox 287 in May do a little bottom fishing.
I mostly took the kids out and we caught snapper, sharks and kingfish. I can't put a price on making memories with the kids even if the boat gives me headaches all the time.
Then I thought it would be fun to try bottom fishing in 2300 ft of water. So me and some buddies gave it a go and caught some tile fish, barrel grouper and 10 swordfish in 4 trips out deep. I can't say thanks enough to my friends that went with me and worked so hard to catch these things. We don't use electric reels, all fish are hand cranked all the way up. The biggest swordfish took 6 1/2 hrs to get in. We hooked it at 8pm and got it in the boat at 2:30 am.
