    Gobble Gobble: Opening Morning Tom

What a hunt! I saw a ton of birds in big field, but the 18MPH winds were killing me. Absolutely no interest in my call, they honest probably never heard it. I had also not put out decoys because of the wind, but about 8:40 the wind started letting up a little, so I snuck out of popup and put out my cheapy Academy special single hen decoy. A couple minutes later I see a turkey about 300 yards out, I give one loud call from my cheapy box call and this tom throws his head up and literally runs about 250yards of the distance. At 50 yards out he starts strutting. It took what felt like forever for him to bring it all the way into the decoy and for me to send an arrow through him at 7 yards. He had a 10 inch beard, slightly shorter than my good one from last year, but he was still a very nice bird.
