    What the heck could those two purple blurs be in the upper corners?

        If that is a film camera I would say that you have a light leak through the finder.

        Depending on what kind of digital camera I guess it could be a light leak but I have no idea.

              Did you have a hood on your lens?
              Maybe it is light reflecting off of the lens hood and exposing on your film?

                Typically on long term exposures, you need to cover up the eyepiece on the back of the camera just to ensure light from behind doesn't creep into the exposure. Simply set everything up and then place a small piece of black tape over the eyepiece and then hit BULB.

                It could be several things and the only way to find out is through a process of elimination. Cover the eyepiece and shoot another long exposure and check. If that isn't it, change out the lens and shoot another long exposure.
