Dad and I are headed to New Mexico on Saturday to start chasing some bugling Bulls (I hope). Going to be my first Trad hunt on western game. Trying to get all my equipment ready and shoot a lot. Any tips on getting a shaving edge on broadheads. Mine are sharp but not as sharp as I would like.
German kinetics right out of the package. Honestly, I use a DMT diamond sharpening set. It has 3 different grit sizes. Makes one heck of a sharpen edge. Maybe try a ceramic Rod? BTW, Those are some nice elk.
You get lucky on a draw for NM, or are you hunting private property?
If your broadheads are already pretty sharp, just use a ceramic rod with very light strokes to touch them up & get them shaving sharp. Heavy Emphasis in "very light strokes".
Rick we are lucky to have a landowner that lets use come hunt. This is our second year in this ranch. I killed a spike bill last year in October with my wheel bow.

Hope for dry weather and they will be at that waterhole . Old Indian trick, maybe knuckle dragger . The trick is can you make them comfortable enough to come in at 10 yds. That's pretty open country. Best of luck. Noting like hunting elk. Arvin
